WORKSHOP ON CULTIVATING RESEARCH EXCELLENCE THROUGH METHODOLOGICAL INNOVATION ON 01-07-2026 & 02-07-2026
The School of Allied Health Sciences, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, successfully orchestrated a Two-Day Workshop on Research Methodology on 1st and 2nd July 2026 at Room No. 402, SET Block. The intellectually stimulating programme served as a dynamic platform for postgraduate students, faculty members, and research scholars to strengthen their research acumen through an engaging blend of conceptual learning and experiential practice.
The workshop commenced with insightful sessions on the fundamentals of research, emphasizing the formulation of meaningful research questions using the FINER criteria and the development of scientifically sound titles. Participants were introduced to advanced literature search strategies, Boolean operators, and systematic approaches to identifying research gaps. Interactive exercises encouraged critical thinking and fostered analytical reasoning among the attendees.
Subsequent sessions explored the formulation of research objectives through the PICO and SMART frameworks, followed by comprehensive discussions on questionnaire development, research design, sampling techniques, and the STROBE checklist. Ethical considerations in human research, informed consent, and responsible research conduct were highlighted, reinforcing the significance of integrity and transparency in scientific investigations. Participants also acquired practical expertise in designing digital questionnaires using Google Forms.
The second day focused on the statistical dimensions of research, where participants gained proficiency in descriptive and inferential statistics, interpretation of p-values, and appropriate statistical test selection. Hands-on demonstrations using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel enabled participants to perform data analysis with confidence and precision. Equally enriching was the session on scientific manuscript preparation, where attendees learned the IMRAD format for drafting high-quality research papers. Practical training on reference management through Zotero and Mendeley, along with guidance on APA and Vancouver citation styles, further enhanced participants' scholarly competencies.
The workshop proved to be an enlightening academic endeavour, nurturing a culture of research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration. By integrating theoretical concepts with practical applications, the programme empowered participants with the competence to undertake ethical, systematic, and impactful research. This transformative initiative reaffirmed the university's commitment to fostering innovation, scholarly inquiry, and evidence-based practice, thereby contributing significantly to the advancement of academic research and professional development within the allied health sciences community.
