About Us

The School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University (DSU), Tiruchirappalli, is committed to nurturing future-ready agricultural professionals through excellence in education, research, innovation, and extension. The School offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes designed in line with ICAR guidelines and Outcome-Based Education, combining strong academic foundations with experiential learning. The School commenced its academic journey in 2021 with the launch of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture programme. Building upon this foundation, Doctoral programmes in Agriculture were introduced in 2022. In 2023, SAS expanded its academic portfolio with the introduction of the B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture programme, followed by Doctoral programmes in Horticulture. Continuing its commitment to advanced education and research, the School introduced postgraduate programmes in 2026, offering M.Sc. (Ag.) in Soil Science and Environment and M.Sc. (Ag.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding.


Equipped with modern laboratories, instructional farms, and dedicated research and training facilities, the School provides students with hands-on exposure through field visits, Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE), internships, research projects, and community engagement programmes. A team of experienced faculty members fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry, innovation, and entrepreneurship while promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices.


With a focus on academic excellence, industry collaboration, and farmer-centric extension, the School prepares graduates to excel in agriculture, horticulture, agribusiness, research, higher education, and public service. At SAS, students are empowered to become skilled professionals and responsible leaders committed to advancing sustainable agriculture and rural development.

Dr. K. Chozhan is a reputed academician having serious work experience in the field of Agricultural Entomology. He has obtained B.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Entomology and Ph.D. in Agricultural Entomology from TNAU. He has committed his career to several renowned institutions like Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute, Aaduthurai, Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai, Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam, working from Assistant Professor to Dean. Dr. K. Chozhan has put in numerous services to the cause of teaching, research, and extension with the guidance of many students in very large numbers and publications. The achievements ranged from the development of IPM technologies, mulberry germplasm, sericulture units, and handholding to the creation of start-ups. He has been honoured with coveted awards such as the TNAU Medal and Gold Medal by the Agricultural Scientific Tamil Society for exemplary service and contributions.

The School of Agricultural Sciences is equipped with well-established laboratories in the Departments of Agronomy, Soil Science and Environment, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Biotechnology, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Biochemistry, Agricultural Extension and Agricultural Economics. These laboratories are equipped with modern instruments and facilities to support practical classes, research activities, and project work. They provide students with hands-on training, enabling them to develop technical skills, conduct scientific experiments, and gain practical exposure that complements classroom learning and prepares them for professional careers and higher education.
