National Cadet Corps (NCC)

National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the largest voluntary youth organization in India and functions under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. It engages young students in military-oriented training, adventure activities, and community service throughout the year. The primary aim of the NCC is to develop discipline, leadership, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure, and the ideals of selfless service among the youth.

The NCC Army Wing of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University functions under the 2 (TN) Armoured Squadron NCC. Established in 2023 with an initial strength of 34 cadets, the unit has grown significantly to 105 cadets, reflecting the increasing enthusiasm, discipline, and commitment of students towards nation-building activities. Lt. T. Prasanna Vengatesh was appointed as the first Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of the university's NCC Army Wing.

Our NCC cadets actively participate in a wide range of training programmes and camps, including the Inter Group Competition (IGC), Basic Leadership Camp (BLC), Advanced Leadership Camp (ALC), Army Attachment Camp (AAC), Trekking Camp (TC), and various centrally organized NCC camps. These programmes provide valuable opportunities for cadets to enhance their leadership qualities, physical endurance, military skills, teamwork, and overall personality development.

Community service forms an integral part of NCC activities. Our cadets regularly engage in Social Service and Community Development (SSCD) programmes, including Swachh Bharat cleanliness drives, tree plantation campaigns, blood donation awareness programmes, environmental conservation initiatives, health awareness campaigns, and other outreach activities that promote social responsibility and national service.

The first batch successfully completed the prestigious 'B' and 'C' Certificate Examinations in February 2026, marking an important milestone for the unit.

Currently, Dr. J. Henry serves as the Caretaker Officer (CTO) of the NCC Army Wing and continues to coordinate various NCC activities within the university. Under his coordination, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University successfully hosted the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) in April 2026, bringing together NCC cadets from different institutions for intensive military training, leadership development, adventure activities, and personality enhancement.

The NCC unit continues to achieve excellence in competitions and training. In March 2026, Senior Under Officer (SUO) Managapathi Ganesh was selected as the Best Cadet of the NCC Rock Fort Group, Tiruchirappalli. In June 2026, Cadet Under Officer (CUO) M. Jayanth Kishore secured the Silver Medal in the Prone Shooting Event at the Inter Group Competition (IGC), bringing laurels to the university.

Through its diverse training programmes, adventure activities, community service initiatives, and leadership opportunities, the NCC Army Wing of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University continues to empower young minds to become disciplined, responsible, and socially committed citizens dedicated to the service of the nation.
