FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR EXTRAMURAL R&D: EMPOWERING RESEARCHERS TO TRANSFORM IDEAS INTO IMPACT ON 09-06-2026
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University successfully organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Funding Opportunities for Extramural Research and Development (R&D)" on 9th June 2026 at the Lecture Theatre – 601, Academic Block. The programme was designed to equip faculty members and researchers with comprehensive knowledge on securing competitive research grants from national funding agencies and strengthening the University's research and innovation ecosystem.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Prasada Raju, AICTE Distinguished Professional and R&D Advisor to IITs–Madras, Tirupati, and Hyderabad. Drawing upon his extensive expertise in research administration and innovation management, Prof. Raju provided valuable insights into identifying appropriate funding agencies, developing impactful research proposals, and understanding the essential components of successful grant applications. He also emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and strategic research planning in securing extramural funding.
The FDP introduced participants to various government-sponsored funding schemes, proposal evaluation criteria, budget preparation, intellectual property considerations, and best practices for preparing competitive research proposals. The interactive session encouraged faculty members to pursue externally funded projects that address societal challenges while contributing to scientific advancement. Representing the School of Allied Health Sciences, Dr. Sathya, Ms. Kalyani, and Ms. Nivethitha actively participated in the Faculty Development Programme. Their participation reflects the institution's commitment to enhancing faculty competencies, promoting research excellence, and encouraging continuous professional development through exposure to national-level academic initiatives.
The programme concluded with an engaging discussion and interactive question-and-answer session, enabling participants to clarify their queries and gain practical insights into the grant application process. The FDP served as an enriching learning experience, inspiring researchers to transform innovative ideas into impactful projects and reinforcing the University's vision of fostering a vibrant culture of research, innovation, and academic excellence.
