GENDER SENSITIZATION IN THE CONTEXT OF POSH WORKSHOP ON 15-05-2026
Twenty faculty members from the School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, actively participated in a workshop on “Gender Sensitization in the Context of POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment)” organized by the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on 15th May 2026 at Lecture Hall–4, Academic Block. The programme was conducted with the objective of cultivating awareness, equity, and professionalism within the workplace. The workshop was facilitated by Mrs. K. R. Vijayavani, Founder and Principal Counsellor of Psyche Heal Counselling Services, Chennai, an eminent expert in counselling and workplace well-being. Through an insightful and engaging session, she elucidated the significance of gender sensitivity, ethical workplace behaviour, and the legal framework of the POSH Act, which serves as a cornerstone in safeguarding individuals from sexual harassment in professional environments.
The resource person highlighted the rights, responsibilities, and accountability of employees while explaining the grievance redressal mechanism and the functioning of the Internal Complaints Committee. Emphasis was placed on creating a workplace culture rooted in dignity, inclusivity, mutual respect, and zero tolerance towards harassment. Participants were also acquainted with preventive strategies, reporting procedures, and measures that promote gender equality and professional integrity.
The interactive discourse encouraged meaningful dialogue, reflection, and awareness among the attendees. Real-life scenarios and practical insights enhanced participants’ understanding of maintaining a secure and harmonious work atmosphere. The workshop served as an enlightening platform that reinforced the University’s commitment to fostering a safe, equitable, and congenial workplace ecosystem. Faculty members gained valuable perspectives on cultivating empathy, respecting diversity, and upholding ethical standards in their professional interactions. The session concluded with a renewed pledge to contribute towards a workplace environment that is respectful, empowering, and free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
