Internal compliance committee awareness rally - 19.9.2025
On 20th September 2025, as part of the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week celebrations, the School of Pharmacy, DSU organized an insightful guest lecture on the theme “From Prescription to Protection: The Power of Pharmacovigilance.” The session was delivered by *Dr. Dharani Boopathi, Senior Pharmacovigilance Associate, Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad.
Dr. Dharani Boopathi emphasized the critical role of pharmacovigilance in safeguarding patient health and ensuring the safe use of medicines. She highlighted the importance of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting, the role of healthcare professionals in identifying drug-related problems, and how collective vigilance contributes to national and global drug safety initiatives. The lecture also provided practical insights into the functioning of PvPI, the process of monitoring post-marketing surveillance, and the significance of digital tools in strengthening patient safety measures.The interactive session gave students and faculty an opportunity to broaden their understanding of pharmacovigilance and encouraged them to contribute actively to ADR reporting for improved healthcare outcomes. The event concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students clarified their queries and shared their perspectives on the pharmacist’s responsibility in promoting drug safety.
The program was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Dr. S. Akilandeswari, Dean, School of Pharmacy, DSU, along with the support of the faculty of the Department of Pharmacology. The session proved to be highly beneficial, enriching the knowledge of budding pharmacists and reinforcing the importance of vigilance in pharmacy practice.
