Introduction to Research Methodology: A Small Step Forward - 10th September 2024
A one-day workshop on "Introduction to Research Methodology: A Small Step Forward" was organized by the School of Agricultural Sciences, under the leadership of the esteemed Dean, Dr. K. Chozhan on 10.09.2024 at Lecture theatre-601. The chief organising secretary, Dr. J. Pathma, Associate Professor (Entomology) and Associate Dean of Student Affairs, welcomed the gathering. Dr. K. Chozhan, Dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, delivered Presidential address that significantly enhanced the occasion. Dr. T. Umamaheshwari, Assistant Professor in Agricultural Microbiology, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry at Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Agricultural College & Research Institute, Echangottai, Thanjavur served as the Resource person. The target audience were UG students of II and III B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Programme. The resource person provided invaluable insights on research methodology, quality publications and research ethics.
A total of 320 students and 22 faculty members participated in the workshop. The workshop successfully equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills in basics of research methodology, importance of quality research and quality publications and emphasized the importance of research ethics. The workshop laid a strong foundation for future research endeavours and fostered a deeper understanding of effective research practices among attendees. The workshop's success was further supported by organizing committee members, including Dr. M. Aasif, AP (Agronomy), Mr. A. V. Gowtham, AP (Agronomy), Dr. S. Dinesh Kumar, AP (Agrl. Extension) and Ms. N. Nivetha, AP (Entomology). Their dedicated efforts were instrumental in ensuring the event's grandeur and success.
