Light not only symbolizes knowledge which removes ignorance and darkness and lots could be achieved but it also signifies the enlightment experience, hope, love, comfort & positivity driving away the negativity that darkness. This feast is celebrated in the remembrance of Miss Florence Nightingale the founder of Modern Nursing. She has rendered services to the wounded soldiers. At night she used to carry a lamp while taking rounds to look after her patients.
This earned her the affection title lady with lamp. Lamp lighting ceremony is an auspicious occasion in every Nurses life with reverence to Florence Nightingale.
This auspicious occasion held in Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University – College of Nursing on 03.05.2023 in Lecture Hall I. DSU Pro-chancellor Mrs. Ananthalakshmi Kathiravan light the kuthuvilakku and delivered special address to the student then our Vice chancellor Air marshal Dr C. K. Ranjan VSM, AV (Retd) delivered presidential address, Dr. M. Ravichandran Registrar DSU Dr V. Sekar P & D, Dr Thamilarasi M D, Dean I/C SMCH delivered felicitation. The first year 2022 – 23 batch 100 Nursing students took part in the occasion. Prof A Pechiammal Dean, Paramedical delivered the Oath and the students taken the oath which signifies discharge of their duties with complete honesty integrity and without any discrimination. It’s well said that if you light a lamp for someone else it will also brighten your path and there are ways of spreading light in the form of dedicated care to the sick and needy. Then the program ends with vote of thanks. Every one wished the future Florence’s of our Nation.
