Breaking the Cycle of Maternal Mortality - 21st August 2024
1. On behalf of OBG department Srinivasan medical college and hospital along with MEU conducted CME on 21.08.2024 Wednesday on topic, “Breaking the cycle of maternal mortality: Innovative approaches and interventions” for the benefit of second MBBS students.
2. CME was attended by nearby block medical officers, PHC medical officers, VHNs, SHNs, ANM, staff nurses and DMCHO Trichy district.
3. CME was honoured by the presence of our district collector Shri. M. Pradeep kumar who gave a special speech on the importance of antenatal care, identification of risk factors, vigilant monitoring and follow up of antenatal and postnatal mothers. He also emphasized the need for achieving zero maternal mortality in Trichy district by combined efforts of health professionals at all levels.
4. CME was also graced by presence of district health officer Dr. Subramanian who briefed the importance of safe motherhood.
5. It was benefitted for 146 MBBS students, OBG postgraduates, around 67 consultants of OBG from various hospitals and faculties of community medicine department and faculties from various other departments.
6. Overview of MMR and programmes by government of India in preventing MMR was thoroughly discussed by Dr. Shankar, Professor and HOD, Department of Community Medicine.
7. 2 most important major cause of mmr-anemia and pph was discussed by eminent speakers Dr. Prasanna and Dr. Tamilselvi
8. SOP by govt of T.N was highlighted by BMO Dr. Vignesh
9. High risk obstetric case scenario was discussed in panel discussion by expert panelist Dr. Vijayprabha, Dr. Vidhya, Dr. Chithra, Dr. Amrita and it was moderated by our HOD Dr. Arthi. It was an interactive discussion with audience.
10. Quiz programme was conducted for 2nd year MBBS students on MMR and prizes were distributed for 3 winner groups.
11. CME then concluded with thanks giving speech by Dr. Scindia, OG Assistant Professor.
