Dialayzable and Non Dialayzable Drugs - 20th May 2024

The function strated with Tamilthaivalthu followed by welcome address by Dr. S. Thamilarasi, M.D. Professor & HoD Department of Pharmacology. Dr. G. Nagakarthiram M.D. Assistant Professor of Pharmacology delivered lecture on Kidney and drugs.
He explained about changes in PK, PD Volume of distribution and bio availability in renal failure of various drugs. He also explained the dose adjustments of drugs by Cockcroft gault formula for creatinine clearance
(140- age) X weight.

He also explained nephro toxic drugs. The session continued with the lecture on dialyzable and non dialyzable drugs delivered by Dr. M. Myvizhiselvi M.D, DM(Nephro), She explained the types of dialysis, dialysing fluids and dialysing machine. She also explained the merits and demerits of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis she pointed out the drugs that completely dialyzable and non dialyzable. The session concluded with question & answer session, where she clarified the doubts of students. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. D. Malliga, M.D, Professor, Department of Pharmacology and National Anthem.
