Voter Awareness Campaign Rally - 11th March 2024

Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Trichy experienced a momentous demonstration of civic engagement and democratic fervour as students from all its schools actively took part in a Voter Awareness Campaign between 6th to 14th March 2024. The Electoral Literacy Club, operating under the Division of Students’ Affairs, orchestrated a series of impactful activities, including a Voters' Pledge session, an awareness rally, and a Signature Campaign on 11th March 2024.

The primary objective of the event was to instill a sense of responsibility and awareness among the student body regarding their pivotal role in the electoral process and the paramount importance of casting their votes.

Commencing at 10:00 am in front of the academic block, the event drew a gathering of nearly 600 students, predominantly first-time voters, representing various schools of DSU along with their faculty coordinators. Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. C.K. Ranjan addressed the assembly, setting the tone for the day.

The pledge-taking session provided first-time voters with an opportunity to commit to democratic values and express their dedication to making informed choices in upcoming elections. Subsequently, the Signature Campaign was inaugurated by Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr. CK Ranjan, accompanied by the Registrar, Dr. D. Dhanasekaran, Deans, Associate Deans of various Schools and Students’ Affairs, Director - Physical education, Faculty coordinator of electoral literacy club, NSS officer and Faculty members from various schools and department of Physical Education. Enthusiastically, students participated in signing to symbolize their commitment to democratic principles.

Amidst an energetic crowd, Dr. C.K Ranjan, Vice-Chancellor of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, flagged off the rally, underscoring the institution's unwavering dedication to cultivating electoral literacy and encouraging civic engagement. The rally, the focal point of the campaign, witnessed students marching through the university premises, brandishing banners and placards adorned with messages highlighting the importance of active participation in the democratic process. Slogans advocating for responsible voting and active citizenship echoed through the air, creating an atmosphere of spirited commitment. Thecampaign  achieved widespread participation, with students eagerly adding their signatures to affirm their dedication to upholding democratic principles. Additionally, a designated selfie
point was set up during the Voter Awareness Campaign, where both students and faculty members enthusiastically captured moments by taking selfies.
