DSU Trichy Campus Grand Pongal Celebration - 10th and 11th Jan 2024
Dhanlakshmi Srinivasan University, a beacon of academic excellence, embraced the spirit of Pongal with a two-day celebration on January 10th and 11th, 2024. The festivities, marked by cultural richness and traditional fervor, brought together students, faculty, and the esteemed Chancellor of the University, Shri. A. Srinivasan, Smt. Ananthalakshmi Kathiravan, Hon'ble Pro-Chancellor, Ms. Neevanee Kathiravan, Managing Director of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College & Hospital, Siruvachur.
Day 1 - January 10, 2024: Celebrating Unity and Joy
On the first day, the university resonated with laughter and camaraderie as students and faculty participated in a series of events designed to celebrate unity and joy. Traditional games and entertainment programs captivated the audience, creating an atmosphere of festivity and togetherness.
Day 2 - January 11, 2024: Chancellor’s Grand Visit and Cultural Extravaganza
The highlight of the celebration occurred on the second day when the esteemed Chancellor of Dhanlakshmi Srinivasan University, graced the campus with his presence. His visit commenced with a tour of the entire university campus, witnessing the vibrant spirit and enthusiasm of the students and faculty. To showcase the traditional essence of Pongal, nine huts were set up on the campus grounds, where individuals prepared Pongal dishes. Chancellor, embodying the spirit of community, tasted each Pongal preparation, fostering a sense of unity and cultural exchange.
The festivities continued with a warm welcome address, setting the stage for a series of events that reflected the diverse talents which included Bharathanatiyam, oyilaatam, thappaatam, folk dance within the university community. Adding pride to the occasion, Asian level Silambam champion, Kamalesh, Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) second-year student acted as the pride of the college, showcasing exceptional skills in the traditional martial art form. The cultural events unfolded with a captivating dance competition, where students exhibited their grace and creativity. The vibrant performances underscored the cultural diversity and artistic prowess present within our University community.
Dr. C.K. Ranjan, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor of the university, expressed his gratitude for the celebration, stating, "The Pongal festivities at our university are a reflection of our commitment to cultural diversity and the spirit of unity that defines us. Ayya's presence and the active participation of students and faculty have made this celebration truly memorable."
