After getting permission from the village panchayat leader, the environment protection and tree plantation program was conducted on 07.07.2023 in the villages Valaiyur and Thiruvellarai. Students were divided into three groups and each group was allotted with an area for tree plantation.
The students were welcomed by the village panchayat leader and the villagers. Students educated the villagers gathered during the program about the importance of trees and the need for planting more trees. Followed by which students divided themselves into small groups and planted trees with the help of gardener. They also motivated the villagers to take care of those trees which they planted. This activity of the students inspired the villagers to plant more trees around their community.
The tree plantation program done by the 1st MBBS students was a great success as the objective of the program, to develop interest in activities that helps to protect and sustain our environment was achieved. This also helped the students to create a good relationship with the villagers.
