Anti-Ragging Awareness Week Celebration - 12th - 18th August 2024

The Division of Students' Affairs, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Trichy observed Anti-Ragging Awareness Week 2024. The celebration kick started on 12th August 2024 with an inaugural address by honorable Vice-Chancellor Dr C.K. Ranjan who flagged of the Anti-ragging awareness rally organized by the Endurance club under the Aegis of Students' Affairs in association with School of Engineering and Technology. Honorable Registrar Dr. Dhanasekaran Devaraj, Dr. J. Pathma, Associate Dean, Students' Affairs, Deans, Associate Deans and Faculty coordinators of various schools and Department of Physical Education led the rally along with the students. About 600 students from various Schools along with 45 faculty members of DSU participated in the awareness rally voicing slogans against ragging. Nearly 1500 students witnessed the rally.
Anti-ragging awareness videos from UGC website were screened in the respective lecture halls to create awareness about the ill effects of ragging. A message from Honorable Vice-chancellor Dr. C.K. Ranjan was uploaded in University website and in all Social Media platforms which sensitized the students about the measures taken to curb ragging in DSU, support system available to report ragging related incidents if any, the impacts of ragging and a caution that our university has Zero tolerance to ragging. The link was also shared with our student community.
On day two, Anti-ragging awareness logo Design competition was organized by Fine Arts Club under the Aegis of Students’ Affairs in association with School of Physiotherapy in the forenoon session. A total of 44 students participated and best three was selected for the award of prizes. In the afternoon session, English Literary Club in Association with School of Nursing organized Essay writing competition in English and Tamil. A total of 30 students participated and exhibited their awareness and literary skills by participating in the event.
On day three, the Science Club, under the Aegis of Students Affairs in Association with School of Allied Health Sciences conducted a poster designing competition on the theme: 'No To Ragging-Ragging Free Campus' in which 10 teams participated and exhibited their awareness and creative skills.
On 16th of August, in the forenoon session a workshop to create awareness against ragging was held by Know Your Rights And Responsibilities Club under the aegis of Students' Affairs in association with School of Law. Advocate Mr. D. Baskar from Madras High Court was the resource person. He sensitized the participants regarding what is ragging, its consequences and legal implications etc. Nearly 250 student participants and 15 faculty members benefitted from the workshop and they in turn will sensitize their peers regarding importance to refrain from ragging related activities.
In the afternoon session, a short film competition was held by the Cliq – The photography club under the Aegis of Students’ Affairs in association with School of Agricultural Sciences in which students of various schools totaling 40 in four teams participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talents by making short films on the theme 'Anti-ragging'. The films were screened and three best films were awarded. Nearly 260 student participants from various schools viewed the short films made by student competitors.
On 17th and 18th Anti-ragging Awareness Slogan Writing contest was conducted in online mode in both English and Tamil by Tamil Ilakkiya Mandram, under the aegis of Students' Affairs in association with School of Pharmacy. The best slogans were selected for awards by a panel of judges.
Also, selfie points were installed which will attract students and would sensitize them. Students were also advised to participate in the National contest held as a part of creating awareness against ragging. A total of 2744 students and 94 faculty members participated in various events held as the part of anti-ragging awareness week celebrations 2024.
