Recent Advances in Additive Manufacturing and its impact on current scenario - 29th April 2024

Seminar session Organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering under IIC about "Recent Advances in Additive Manufacturing and its impact on current scenario" for all the faculties of School of Engineering & Technology and students of Second, third and first year on 29, April 2024 from 10.30 to 12.30 PM in Seminar hall of School of Engineering and Technology. This programme was led by Dr. Ing. M. Duraiselvam, Professor / Department of Production Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Trichy. The resource person explains the fundamentals of additive manufacturing and recent research towards 3 D printing. Also he describes the expectation of the industry with the new manufacturing method and implementation.  He shared the importance and applications of additive manufacturing to meet out the demands of various fields. He indicated the latest metal printing machines and the research funds received for the research activities under the centre of excellence. He noted that the establishment of additive manufacturing lab and its usage towards innovation at NIT, Tiruchirappalli.  He welcomed our faculties and students to visit their additive manufacturing lab and know about the latest research in forming of new designed product.

This seminar session aimed to provide awareness to the students and faculties about the new manufacturing method and its impact on current scenario and challenges. Around 200 students of second and third year of ECE, Agri, CSE and two section from first year of Engineering and Technology CSE and Mechanical (B5 & B17 Batch) and 12 faculties were actively participated in this programme. Dr. Sanjay Singh, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Dr. V. Raju, Associate Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Dr. M. Prabhu, Associate Dean,. Dr. G. M. Balamurugan, HoD of Mechanical, Mr. T. Prasanna Vengatesh, Assistant Professor of Mechanical was present.
