Human Rights Day - 10th December 2023

In commemoration of Human Rights day on 10 th December 2023, a lecture on Human Rights was held on 09.12.2023 from 11:00AM to 1:10 PM conducted by School of Law in Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University. The event began with Tamizh Thai Vazhthu. The welcome address was given by Mr. P. Ragu balan, Dean-incharge, School of Law. As chief guest Mr. R. Karunanidhi, Advocate, Madurai Bench of Madras High Court was invited. The introduction of guest was given by Viswadharshini S of 1 st year B.A.,LL.B student. Chief Guest began his speech with saying No war is the solution and marked it as universal declaration. He also explains the Article 12 to 35 of the Indian Constitution. He discussed major case laws like D.K. Basu case, 1996; Vishaka Case, 1997; Chairman Railway Board case.

Right to life was the major topic taken by him for addressing the UDRHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights). He continued his speech with the topic bonded labourers with T. Pookodi case. He discussed about Paris Principles, about Human Rights violation along with Sathan Kulam Case and principles of Guidelines given by the commission. He ended his lecture with the Tamil Nadu Pazhaukudi Makkal Sangam V. Government of Tamil Nadu. The questionary session took place with the students and he cleared the students doubt. Later, the vote of thanks was given by Dr. P. Abdul Shereef, Assistant Professor, School of Law. The event was ended with National Anthem.
