The School of Law, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, conducted a Anti Ragging & Violence Against Women Programme on 1st August 2023 at 3.30 p.m, Lecture Hall, DSIT Block. Dr. D. Jothivenkatsan, Associate Professor, School of Law welcomed the gathering and Mrs.J.Janani, Assistant Professor, School of Law introduced the speaker Mr.S.Kuthalingam, M.E, Additional Superindent of Police, Tiruchy District. The programme started with Tamilthai valthu by School of Law students. Dr. A. Thulasi, Dean, School of Medicine and Dr. Reka, Associate Dean of Allied Health were invited for the Programme. The resource person started the session by introducing the Anti Ragging Act and shared his experience during his college. Ragging is a criminal offence and the laws related to ragging are very stringent. The Superintendent of Police insisted that senior students must desist from ragging. Many help lines were suggested to students for their immediate rescue. He spoke about women Empowerment, POSCO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and Eve Teasing Act. He insists the students not to involve in crimes. He spoke about cell phone issues creates more crimes today. Sexual Harassment was happening throughout Social media. Finally he gave awareness about UPSC exams and TNPSC exams are important for their carrier of students. The Superintendent of Police answered the queries of the students and clarified their doubts relating to the issue of ragging. Mr.P.Ragu Balan, Assistant Professor, School of Law, proposed a vote of thanks. The lecture was very well received by the students and the actively participated. The School of Law Faculty worked in unison and coordination to successfully conduct the programme.
