The School of Law, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, celebrated the World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2023. Guest Lecture Mr. A. Nirmal Singh Heera, Assistant Professor of Law, Tamil Nadu National Law University, Trichy was invited as the Guest of Honour at 3.30 p.m, Academic Block. Prof.(Dr.).E. Venugopal, Dean, School of Law welcomed the gathering and Vetrivel Punithan of I BBA LLB(Hons.) Introduced the speaker Mr. A. Nirmal Singh Heera, Assistant Professor of Law, Tamil Nadu National Law University. The resource person started the session on the basic concepts of Intellectual Property Rights. “Intellectual property” are type of property that results from creation of the human mind, the intellect and introduced different rights,UDHR 1948,IP contribution towards Economic nation and Patent right. He instructs the day is celebrated to make students to know how Intellectual property (IP) rights encourage innovation and creativity. This year World IP Day puts innovation and supports the efforts to create a green future. He highlights few examples on Intellectual Property and mentioned that India is mostly lack in IPR education, lack of interests amongst Industries to encourage R& D and lack of motivation to encourage commercialization of inventions that’s a major bottleneck in commercialization and Technology transfer.
Mr. P. Ragu Balan, School of Law thanked the speaker, proposed the vote of thanks. Nearly 100 students participated with their utmost passion and benefited through this Programme.
