ON “CLASSROOM PSYCHOLOGY”
Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University, Samayapuram, Trichy – 621 112 organised a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on 05.11.22 (Saturday) for the faculty of various schools. A total of 32 faculties (15 from School of Engineering and Technology, 05 from School of Paramedical Sciences, 05 from School of Medicine and 02 from School of Law) attended the FDP.
On behalf of Hon’ble Management and University Officials, Dr. Sanjay Singh, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology received the Chief Guest, Dr. N Gayathri, Assistant Professor (Senior) – VIT Vellore. He also welcomed the gathering and introduced Chief Guest to all participants.
Chief Guest Dr. N Gayathri started the session with a brief introduction of herself first and then asked all participants to introduce them not only to her but also to all other participants. She termed the introduction session as “Ice Breaking” session which is required in the first class itself to make the students feel at ease and bring them in comfort zone before commencement of academic class. She gave tips to build rapport between teacher and students which is very important in handling class with students coming from different backgrounds. She also explained ways to be adopted by the teacher to make him/her approachable but within discipline limit i.e. within the boundary of “Lakshaman Rekha”. She conducted a group activity session on the requirement to know oneself with full clarity on “Strength and Weakness”. She insisted faculty to find out the root cause instead of moving and pondering over surface level causes in all problems brought out to them by the students. She also explained briefly about ‘E-Vidya” which she has designed for slow learners.
The session concluded at 05.00 PM. Positive feedbacks were received from the participants. Dr. Sanjay Singh thanked management and university officials for organizing the FDP, Chief Guest for accepting our invitation and sharing her expertise and all participants for attending the program.
