CLAY WORKSHOP - 23-11-2024
School of Architecture hosted an enriching Clay Workshop designed specifically for first-year architecture students on 22 nd and 23 rd November 2024. The hands-on workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamental aspects of working with clay—a material deeply rooted in architectural history and still widely used in both design and construction. Through this workshop students were able to
- Understand the basic properties of clay as a material used in architectural contexts.
- Learn various techniques for modelling and sculpting with clay.
- Develop an appreciation for clay's application in creating architectural forms, details,and textures.
- Explore the relationship between tactile materials and conceptual architectural design.
The Clay Workshop proved to be a valuable experience for first-year architecture students, offering them a unique opportunity to engage with a fundamental material in the field of architecture.Students not only learned the practical skills of clay modelling but also developed a deeper understanding of its aesthetic and functional potential in architectural design.
