Societal Complaints and Remedies for Women and Children - 24th Nov 2023
An orientation programme which is exclusive for women on "Societal Complaints and Remedies for Women and Children" was conducted by ICC on 24.11.2023 at 3.00 p.m. in the Lecture Theatre 2, III Floor, Academic Block. 200 students participated in the programme from various schools like Agriculture, Engineering, Management, Medicine, Allied Health Sciences, Law, Nursing and Physiotherapy.
The Programme started with a prayer song. Ms. Sruthi Sivakumar II Year (Medicine) and a member of ICC welcomed the gathering. The Registrar in-charge and Dean of Agriculture Science Dr. M. Ravichandran presented a memento to the chief guest Prof. B. Thenmozhi, Honourable Member, Child Welfare Committee, District Child Protection Unit, Ramanathapuram.
The chief guest began her speech by insisting that females should make their parents, colleagues and friends believe them. She emphasized the audience to be bold and also pointed out the demerits of imprudent courage. She gave a clear picture with real-time examples of the violence like early marriages, eloping of girls, the kidnapping of children for organs, the role of social media in spoiling girls, etc. against women and children that are prevailing in society. She also provided solutions and advice for overcoming the issues. She advised the audience to be aware of things happening around them and noted that nowadays not only the males but even the females envy other females on things related to beauty, wealth, body, etc. She concluded by mentioning that women, the extraordinary power, should focus on improving their skills, which would improve their families and society.
Dr. V. Thamil Selvi, Associate Professor of English and the presiding officer of ICC, rendered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the national anthem.
