Faculty Development Programme - 27th Nov 2023 to 01st Dec 2023
DAY 1 (27.11.2023)
An invited training session was organized on "Instructional Design and Delivery System" for five days from 27.11.2023 to 01.12.2023 in DHANALAKSHMI SRINIVASAN UNIVERSITY, SAMAYAPURAM Campus.
The resource persons were invited from National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chennai, (Ministry of Education, Government of India), Chennai. . The details of the resource persons are as follows:
1. Dr. R. Rajendran, Professor & Head, Centre of Educational Management & Applied Science, NITTTR Chennai.
2. Dr. K. S. Giridharan, professor of Education & Head, Centre for Rural and Entrepreneurship Development, NITTTR Chennai.
3. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, Professor of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering & Head, Centre for International Affairs, Coordinator, NITTTR Chennai.
4. Dr. R. Santhakumar, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, NITTTR Chennai.
The FDP session was inaugurated at 10.00 AM in Academic Block. Dr. M. Ravichandran, Registrar of the university welcomed the resource persons, dignitaries and participants. Dr. C K Ranjan, Vice Chancellor of the University gave presidential cum inaugural address and emphasized the importance of FDP in honing the skills of a teacher in delivery of instructions. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, Professor of Electrical, Electronics & Communication Engineering & Head, Centre for International Affairs, Coordinator, NITTTR Chennai explained in brief about the complete FDP. The session was handed over to the resource persons.
Morning Session: Teaching Learning Process
Pedagogy is the discipline that deals with the theory and practice of Education. It concerns the study of how best to Teach SDG- Sustainable Development Group, it enables inclusive and equitable quality Education and promote lifelong learning.
Teaching is an ethical process which imparting knowledge, skills and attitude. Learning is defined as a change in individual behaviour caused by experience and knowledge. Learning style is which people prefer to take in new information and make it past of their knowledge and skills.
Noon Session: Instructional Objectives
Instructional Objectives which is time bound and it needs single verb and single noun. The Core part of Objectives is divided into two types - Demonstrable which is to be Applied and Explained and Non-demonstrable which is to be Acquired and Obtained.
DAY 2 (28.11.2023)
Morning Session: Learning Outcomes
Sensory Learners are known to unknown and Intuitive Learners are unknown to known both are depends on the area of their interest. The participants are informed about experiential Teaching.
Noon Session: Instructional Methods and ICT for TLP
The participants are informed about “REVISED BLOOM’S TAXANOMY” and the differences between Cognitive thinking and Knowledge. Cognitive thinking requires verbs like Create, Evaluate, Analyze, Apply, Understand and Remember. Knowledge is entirely based on Nouns like Facts, Concepts, Procedures and Techniques.
DAY 3 (29.11.2023)
Morning Session: Planning for Teaching
Micro-Teaching: Methodology of Teaching requires Blackboard, PowerPoint Presentations, etc. Planning for Teaching is unique to every individual teacher as their Fingerprints. What is Unit Plan? And it’s essential features are learning outcomes, Teaching sequence, Methods and Procedures, Material needed, Assessment Procedures and finally References. Lesson Plan can be distinguished into Teacher Centered which is Passive in Nature and Student Centered which is Active in Nature. The four phases of lesson plan are Introduction, Development, Consolidation and Conclusion.
Noon Session: Adolescent Characteristics by RR
Human Resources are based on KAPS – Knowledge, Ability, Potentiality and Skill. It requires three important things which is URR – Understanding, Retention and Recall. The difference between Teaching and Effective Teaching. Teaching is just taking a Syllabus with meanings and understandings of the teacher alone but Effective teaching needs the Teacher to be blend for that.
Effective Teaching equalizes the following criteria: Information and Instruction + Interaction + Feedback + Psychoanalysis of the students.
DAY 4 (30.11.2023)
Morning Session: Student Motivation and Student Cognitive Resources
Motivation promotes the collaborative thinking in the entire class, Active Listening and Learning in which students work together to solve problems and investigate new concepts in their field of Study.
Cognitive Resources are Intellectual Ability, Memory Ability, Creative Ability, Thinking Ability and Problem-Solving Ability. Non-cognitive Resources are Personality, Motivation, Emotions, Interact, Aptitude(special ability), Attitude and Temperament.
Noon Session: Simulated Teaching Practice
Our faculties gave their Presentations and Teaching Methodologies in front of the resource person. It was recorded as a Video and replayed immediately after they complete their teaching to deliver the Valuable Feedback about their Teaching. Resource person had delivered opines about the Teacher’s way of teaching and gave their comments for improvements to be added.
DAY 5 (01.12.2023)
Morning Session: Simulated Teaching Practice
Classroom Management, how to sustain the student-Teacher Relationship cordially and how effectively use the Board to take the Class. Again, live recordings were played for observation and improvement.
Noon Session: Feedback, Assessment and Valediction
The participants shared their views and feedbacks about the 05 days FDP. Faculties shown their Gratitude towards the Resource persons and certificates were distributed to the Faculties. Vote of thanks was given by the Coordinator of FDP – Mr. Shiyam Ganesh, Asst. Prof. / English. The session concluded with National Anthem.
