About Us

Centre for Research (CR) at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University brings together Professors, Scientists and Researchers from within the group of institution and also from the State Universities and Central Research Laboratories across the Country, combining academic studies and scientific research for independent discipline.

Research and Development is the key component for the effective promotion and development of scientific activities across Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University and serves as the research community in various ways. In specific, CR directs the University’s research mandates within the institution, governs the support service to framework for research related initiates and oversees the outreach activities to general public for societal benefit.

The University’s CR portfolio emphasizes in particular the cultivation, development and support of interdisciplinary research activities and innovative initiatives.

As a budding University, within a short span of time, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University has attracted some of the scientifically profound professors, researchers, academicians and in particular the young enthusiastic minds. With their support, the University is dedicated to the transformative research excellence keeping the concept of research outcomes for needy public. The strategic plan to promote research activities is to nurture the creative thinking, promote innovative ideas, problem solving by critical thinking in collaboration with partner institutions and technology delivery to the society through the interdisciplinary research areas.

Basic, applied and interdisciplinary research themes of the University will be applied as a roadmap to achieve the strategic research excellence. CR is also intent to reinforce the novel links and collaborations with industries and academic institutions to address the regional, national and global scientific problems.

CR lays the groundwork for Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University to reach into the future by enhancing its research capabilities, building and strengthening its strategic relationships, growing its societal impact through knowledge mobilization beyond academia.

The strategic plan for research expresses the University’s core research commitments and outlines the implementation goals and objectives over the next five years.

The major core commitment of CR is to illustrate University’s dedication to the pursuit of research excellence. Extending fundamental research beyond the boundaries of knowledge thereby it can promote problem-focused research and equip with necessary requirement to respond to the new challenges as they emerge. There is no single metric that effectively measures the success of research and its impact on society. We recognize that all forms of research outputs advance knowledge and affect society, either directly or indirectly, and contribute to social, economic, environmental, or cultural benefits.

Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University research profile consists of the research focus areas of the faculties of different disciplines such as Medicine, Engineering & Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Management, Arts, Science and Humanities, and interdisciplinary research.   • Master's Degree with not less than 55% marks or equivalent grade in the subject concerned for full time/Part time Ph.D
  • B.E. / B. Tech : CGPA 8.5 with Valid GATE Score (or) CSIR/ UGC NET/ICAR/DST-INSPIRE Fellowship will be eligible for Full time Direct Ph.D

Selection Process

  • The Selection is based on the entrance examination, followed by an interview
  • NET / SET / GATE qualified candidates shall be exempted from entrance examination.

Syllabus for courses, Research methodology, Research Writing, Research and Publication Ethics should be followed as per DSU norms.Syllabus is attached for your kind perusal.For all other courses, the Research supervisor shall take full responsibility to frame the syllabus with credit hours and shall discuss in front of the doctoral committee for approval.Course-work papers must be decided and approved by the Doctoral committee (1st DC meeting) based on the area of research of the research scholar. Candidates registered for Ph.D. programs should complete a minimum of 4 courses within 18 months from the date of registration. At least 12 credits and upto 16 credits is the minimum requirement for the Ph.D. Program.

****Student attendance (30 days/annum for part-time candidates; Full-time candidates must join immediately and maintain regular attendance as per DSU norms).

*****Attendance register must be maintained by the respective Supervisors and should be submitted along with Progress Reports every 6 months.

Vision of the Cell

To become a noble centre for the protection of ideas and creativeness of students, faculties and general public through the seamless integration of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the Knowledge Value Chain in an evolving university framework.

Mission of the Cell

The IPR Cell of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University aims to evolve into a centre of excellence in the Southern Region of India in fields related to IPR Education, innovation management integrated with IPR within an educational Framework, protection of traditional knowledge and practices for socio-economic development, and contributing to the development and implementation of IPR Policy in the regional and national context.


Objectives of intellectual property refer to the purposes of protection granted to innovators of novel intellectual creations. Intellectual property (IP) rights serve the important purpose of ensuring that innovators will be recognized for their efforts and protected from infringement. As per the norms of National IPR policy, we have framed our objectives are as follows

  • To create an awareness about IPR for students, faculties of the colleges/universities and also for the general public of our society. It helps to promote creativity and innovation.
  • To conduct consistently the workshops, seminars and training courses on IPR.
  • To publicize the knowledge on patents, patent regime in India and abroad and registration aspects.
  • To provide the interdisciplinary choice based introductory courses at the UG and PG levels is to create IPR literates by exposing students to operational concepts in IPR.
  • To impart training on future endeavours regarding patent filing processes.
  • To encourage faculty members and scholars to go for patentable works.
